In addition to your transcripts, you must also submit a letter documenting 6 months of experience working under a licensed veterinarian. You will need to check with your program to find out what they charge for this service. The cost of a transcript transfer varies from program to program. If you graduated from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program, you will need to have your transcripts sent to DOPL. Please review the AAVSB’s instructions carefully in order to successfully complete your application with them. From there, you will need to submit either your final transcript from your AVMA-accredited program or the completed form with necessary documentation to pursue the Alternate Route. Once you do that, the page will update with the most current instructions. On that page, choose “Utah” as your jurisdiction in the first drop-down menu box.

If you are applying for the Alternate Route based on 6,000 hours worked (which you can read about more here), you will still need to pass the VTNE to become credentialed in Utah.
